Bringing People Together to Have a Good Time! How Does This Work Right Now? (Part Two)

Yesterday, we told you how life in home office is right now and what measures we are taking to bring the team closer together. Since we are probably not the only ones trying to cope with this situation as well as possible, we thought we could share our learnings from the past weeks with you. Maybe there are some suggestions that could work for you too. So today we would like to share our golden tips that we gathered for you, to have a good work-life balance and to master your job interview.

Start your day right
At the beginning of your day get yourself a hot drink, get dressed as you would for work, and when you sit down at your desk, make a list of tasks you need to complete - and then start completing them.

Create your own little office
It is not always easy but try to separate your office space from your other spaces. This will help you to get your head free after work and enjoy your leisure time. When it comes to the setup of your individual, ergonomic working space, this video describes it better than we ever could.

Take a break and breathe
Take breaks all day every day! - Just kidding, but not entirely. Taking short breaks throughout the day is important to stay fresh, refocus, and re-energize. Have a little walk or even a short training session to clear your mind. And don’t forget to eat a good meal!

Communication is key
Be aware that written language does not come with emotions, and since you got dressed in the morning and groomed yourself to feel better and get productive anyway, you can always turn on your camera and have a virtual meeting. Even if you just want to drink a coffee with your colleague, check in on them or present the business figures to your boss.

Home office and kindergarten in one
Especially small children do not understand that it is not time for holidays right now and that you have to focus from time to time. Sit down with them and slowly explain the situation, maybe even try to work out a schedule together with “do not disturb times” and “come in I have time to play times”. If you need some extra distractions for your kids, maybe they will be our next little graphic designers?

Even though video conferences are nothing new in recruiting, now they are even more indispensable and necessary to bring people together. For many of you, it is probably not normal to present yourself to a recruiter only through the video screen. It might be scary and new at first, but let us give you some suggestions and guidelines which will help you to master the interview and show us who you really are.

Prior to the virtual interview:

• Check if a video conference is possible and sort out any problems with your recruitment partner.
• Receive all important information from your interview partner.
• Get to know more about us, our company culture, and our team. Maybe play some games on our website?

On the day of your interview:

• Dress comfortably.
• Find an ideal, well-lit, and quiet space.
• Test all needed equipment (internet connection, webcam, headset, charger …)
• Stay calm, and be yourself.

Troubleshooting during the interview:

• Reload the website and connect again if technical difficulties occur during the interview.
• Call or email your interview partner if you still have problems connecting.

After the interview:

• Play some of our games and we will get in contact with you.
